In Meet the Reader (Kid Edition), you’ll meet readers from around the world! Next up is Aarav from Singapore.
Hi, Aarav! Thanks so much for joining us on Meet the Reader (Kid Edition!).
1. What is your name and where are you from?
Hi, my name is Aarav. I was born in India but I have been in Singapore for over 5 years now.
2. Tell us about yourself!
I am 7 years old. I am in Grade 2 and I just love to read. I along with my mother have read over 160 stories, live on Facebook, through our Facebook page bubsRus. I also got an opportunity to read a story for the National Library Board of Singapore. Very recently, I presented a story at the FM Radio station - Radio Chutney. Playing with Beyblades and reading books makes me super happy.
3. What are your favorite books and why?
Geronimo Stilton and Dogman series are my favorites because they are super funny.
4. What do you love about reading?
I love the mystery in the stories and the adventurous journey of different characters in the books. I get to know about different places and the animals in the world. Books open my mind to so many new things and it brings me to all these different places through my imagination, without actually visiting them.
5. Where is your favorite reading spot and why?
I can read anywhere~ at school, at the library, on the bus, even at my friend's birthday party!! But the most favorite spot would be the cozy corner in my room.
6. What were your biggest struggles in school, and how did you overcome them?
I was not very good at Arts at school, but my mother made me practice it during the lockdown period. There's DrawTogether with WendyMac on Youtube. That has helped me a lot to become better at Arts. Also, I had a hard time accepting defeat at any games I played with my friends, but slowly I am learning to smile in the face of defeat :)
7. Here at KidsRead2Kids, we believe our biggest struggles can also be our greatest strengths (or our real-life superpower!). What is YOUR superpower?
My mother tells me that my smile is my superpower. I also forgive very quickly, I hope it counts as a superpower :)
8. If you could change anything about the world, what would you change? Why?
I would like Mother Earth to have more plants and plenty of water. I don't like water pollution; I hope people will stop throwing garbage in the water bodies.
9. What advice would you give to a kid struggling to read?
I would tell them to not give up. They can start by reading easy books with lots of pictures and also listen to stories. Gradually, they can pick the harder books. There are so many books out there, pick one according to your interests and then you will fall in love with the world of books.
